P3 Math and Science Trail

Today, all of you will be going on a Math and Science Trail around the school. You will learn more about plants and apply your math skills. To accomplish this mission, you must read the instructions carefully. 

Complete all the tasks using the Explain Everything application. Use 1 new slide/page for each task. Remember to add your class and group members' names on the first page. 

You have an hour to complete the trail. Have fun!

Science Trail


1.  Differences between Flowering and Non-flowering Plants
       Non-flowering plants are plants that do not reproduce from seeds. Non-flowering plants      reproduce from spores. Fern is an example of non-flowering plant.

      Task 1:

  •       Take a photograph of 2 different types of ferns found in the Science garden.
  •       Label the spore bags and spores (found underneath the leaves of the fern). 

   2. Types of flowers

  Refer to the pictures below. Flowers can either be growing singly or in cluster.

 
These flowers grow singly.

These flowers grow in clusters.


 Task 2:
  • Take a photograph of a flower that is growing singly. State the plant that the flower belongs to.
  • Take a photograph of a flower that is growing in cluster. State the plant that the flower belongs to.
       
       3. Leaves    
       Task 3A: Leaves of Different Shapes

  •  Take photographs of any 2 of the above leaves that you can find in the science  garden.  Label the shape of each leaf.
  •  State the plants these leaves belong to.

Task 3B: Parts of a Leaf

  • Choose one photograph of a leaf and label the parts of the leaf.

Station 1: Science Garden

Math Task 1

You need 2 photographs from the Science Trail for this task.

(a)       Use one photograph of the flowers which you have taken for Science Task 2 and name it as A.

(b)       Use one photograph of the leaves which you have taken for Science Task 3A and name it as B.

(c)       Arrange your photographs in Explain Everything  application to show the following pattern:

Math Task 2A

(a)       Locate the mural below. 



·         Take a picture of this mural.
·         Upload the picture to Explain Everything application.
·         Answer this question:
Ø  How many bumboats can you find in the mural?
·         Key in your answer in the answer box provided in the application.

Math Task 2B

(b)       Look for the painting below which is located at one of the staircases.


·         Take a picture of the painting.
·         Upload the picture to Explain Everything application.
·         Answer this question:
Ø  How many people are in the picture?
·         Key in your answer in the answer box provided in the application.

(c)       Find the product of the two numbers found in tasks (a) and (b) and key in your answer in the answer box provided in the application.

(a)       Take a picture of Mdm Latifah and Mrs Audrey Lee’s lockers.

(b)    Upload the pictures to Explain Everything application.

(c)       Using their locker numbers, form the following:

(i)        Biggest 4-digit number -> _____________
(ii)       Smallest 4-digit number -> ____________

(d)       Find the difference between (i) and (ii) and key in your answer in the answer box provided in the application.
